What do you mean by Snapchat?
When Snapchat launched in 2011, one of its notable features was that pictures and videos, known as "Snaps," disappeared forever after being viewed. However, with the app's immense popularity and its 319 million users spending more than 25 minutes per day on Snapchat, there arose a need to preserve Snaps in order to remember the time spent on the app. Snapchat Memories was introduced as a solution to this problem.
What are Snapchat Memories?
Snapchat Memories refers to your personal collection of saved Snaps. In 2016, Snapchat announced Memories in response to users' desire to save the Snaps they captured through the app onto Snapchat's servers.
With Memories, you have the ability to create an archive of all your Snaps, which can be revisited or shared again on Snapchat or other platforms. The inspiration behind the Memories feature stems from the enjoyment of scrolling through old photos with friends and family. Your Snapchat Memories may contain some fantastic content for Throwback Thursday posts.
Previously, Snapchat users could save Snaps to their phone's camera roll, but Memories allows them to save and access Snaps within the app itself. By default, Snaps are now saved in Memories, unless you update your settings to save Snaps to your camera roll as well.
How to access Memories on Snapchat
To view Memories on Snapchat, simply swipe up from the camera screen. There's no complexity to it. Within the Memories section of the app, you can swipe right to see saved stories, your camera roll, screenshots, and your "my eyes only" section.

How to save all Snapchat Memories
While you can save each Snapchat Memory to your camera roll individually, doing so can be time-consuming. The easiest way to save all your Snapchat Memories to your camera roll is as follows:
- Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the Snapchat app.
- Scroll down and tap "Memories."
- In the "Save Destinations" section, select "Memories & Camera Roll."
By following these steps, your Snapchat Memories will automatically be saved to Snapchat's servers and your camera roll.
Unfortunately, if you haven't done this yet, your existing memories must be saved individually by:
- Opening the memory you want to save.
- Tapping on the More Icon (three dots) in the top right corner.
- Selecting "Export Snap."
- Tapping "Download."
